Twelve Angry Men thumbnailThe Law Library's "Reels of Justice Film Series" continues at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 25, 2007, with a screening of 12 Angry Men, starring Henry Fonda. The cast includes many other notable actors including Martin Balsam, Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall, Jack Klugman, Jack Warden, and Ed Begley. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards in 1958, including Best Director, Best Picture, and best Screenplay from Another Medium. It was adapted from the Emmy Award-winning 1954 "Studio One" television production written by Reginald Rose.

In 12 Angry Men, twelve jurors deliberating on what first appears to be an open-and-shut murder case begin to question the evidence and their own prejudices after one of their members refuses to take things at face value.

In addition to the film, the program will include an appearance by local attorney and newly elected member of the Law Library's Board of Trustees, Martin Miller, who will provide commentary on how the film portrays the justice system.

The program will be presented in the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium and is free and open to the public.

The next film in the "Reels of Justice Film Series" will be Judgment at Nuremberg, scheduled for screening on August 24, 2007.
